IAU Colloquium 200 on "Direct Imaging of Exoplanets - Science and Techniques" took place in Villefranch-sur-mer near Nice (France) during October 3-7, 2005. Topics covered at the conference included the physics of giant and terrestrial planets, reports on recent observations from ground and space, measurements of Earthshine, expectations for future observations at visible and infrared wavelengths, trade-offs between monolithic telescopes and interferometers, comparisons between ground and space, progress reports on projects aimed at direct planet detection that are currently under development, and discussions of data reduction techniques. I will try to summarize the main outcomes of the Colloquium, with an emphasis on topics that are relevant for the science cases of extremely large telescopes.
