PROCEEDINGS

The Publisher for all IAU publications is Cambridge University Press (CUP). The Proceedings of IAU Symposia, Colloquia, Highlights and Transactions will be available both in print and on-line.
The participant's price for the 2005 IAU Proceedings (on-line and printed version, including shipping) is US$70. This amount is already included in the registration fee for IAUS232. Consequently, each participant will automatically receive a copy of the Proceedings.
The IAU contract with CUP stipulates that Proceedings of IAU Symposia and IAU Colloquia will appear within six months of the end of the meeting, i.e., by 18 May 2006. In order to achieve this publication date, the editors must present the manuscript to the publisher no later than 18 February 2006; this determines the submission date for individual contributions.
The deadline for submission of manuscripts is 18 DECEMBER 2005.

Procedure for uploading manuscripts:

ftp www.saao.ac.za
Login: anonymous
Password: your email address
cd incoming/iau232
mput files
to deposit your .tex manuscript, .ps files, and any other material you wish to be linked with the on-line publication (see below).
quit

Send an email message to Patricia Whitelock (paw@saao.ac.za) listing the names of your files after uploading them.
You will not be able to read or download any files from the above ftp site.
The contributions to a conference such as this, in a rapidly changing field, will be most useful and influential soon after the conference so it is important to meet these deadlines.

STYLE FILE AND EXAMPLES

The IAU-CUP style file and examples are available from here (ftp://ftp.sron.nl/pub/karelh/UPLOADS/IAU-CUP.dir/authors.dir) .
Please do not change font sizes or layout; the IAU wishes to have a fixed appearance for its Proceedings. For figures, authors are free to include their preferred packages (e.g., epsf).
When authors have colour figures in the .tex files of their papers, they will show up in colour in the electronic version of the Proceedings, but in black and white in the printed version. To make colour figures show up in colour in the printed version of the Proceedings, CUP will charge the authors UK Pound 500.- per page. If authors are not prepared to pay for this, their colour figures will show up in black-and-white in the printed version. Therefore, in case of colour figures with half-tones, authors should make sure that these will look good in black-and-white.

PAGE LIMITS:

Page Allocation, including references and discussion:
Invited reviews, including session introductions10 pages
Contributed talks 4 Pages
Posters 2 pages
Authors should include the discussion that follows their contribution within this page limit.

CUP have indicated their willingness to include Supplementary Material in the on-line version of the proceedings, this can include, large datasets, extra information, video clips, photographs, etc. Such items can be linked to individual articles, or included separately in the table of contents. This on-line material is not subjected to any editing, typesetting or conversion to pdf or HTML versions that would match the format of the regular articles; it is published as supplied. Consequently, authors should consider how they want the information to be presented when they prepare their files. Those interested in making use of this facility should contact one of the editors with details when they deposit the information at the ftp site.
