SAAO - South African Astronomical Observatory

SALT Engineering Bursary

Jaci Dyers

Jaci is currently a student at Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), Bellville Campus (Formally Pentech) and is studying towards her National Diploma in Electrical Engineering. Jaci's major is Telecommunications and she will complete the theory component of her studies by June 2006. Thereafter she will have to complete her practical component which is done over 2 semesters (1 year). Jaci is planning to do half of her practical at the Observatory.

On a more personal note:
Since Jaci did not have the opportunity to further her studies after school, she worked for a couple of years in the freight forwarding industry. Then in 2002, through the influence of her dad, Jaci started on a journey which lead her to where she is today... And she has NO REGRETS... Jaci says " I am living my dream!! I'm gonna be an Engineer!!"

Since she is still busy with undergraduate studies, she has not yet identified exactly where her research interest lies. However, Jaci is quite fascinated by what must be going on at NASA and can see herself being quite content studying and working in an Aeronautical Environment.
