The farm is about 48 Km from Sutherland on the Bo-Visrivier road on the edge of the escarpment. This is the ideal place to come and relax and have a real 4x4 adventure.

SKURWEBERG OFFERS YOU:
- The farm has a large farm house for accommodation with all the facilities. Up to nine people can be accommodated in the house. Relax under the large shade trees on the lawn or at the braai area adjacent to the house.
- A swim in the river below the house is a must after the days driving.
- Tents can be erected on the grassed campsite next to the river. Large trees provide shade. The campsite has ablution facilities and an entertainment area.
- Arrangements can be made to camp along the escarpment to allow you the most fantastic sunset and sunrise
- The trails vary from easy to very difficult. If all the challenging trails are done it will take about half a day to complete 13 km.
- The views along the trails are spectacular.

Two new
trails have been added recently!
- The SNEEUKRANS route offers a lovely drive with fantastic views along the 80m high cliffs.
- The SKUINSVOETPAD route is a more challenging route which drops 1000m to the farm WINTEROORD. This farmhouse is also available for staying in the winter months since the climate is more moderate there
- Horse rides and horse-cart rides available.
- Try the different routes with
your mountain bike.

NOVA
VITA is a farm situated in
the western gorges of the Nuweveld mountain range, 430 km from Cape
Town. Here
the visitor can come and enjoy farm life, with its unique natural
beauty of the
Koup and Great Karoo, where the various forms of life are adapted to
survive
the extreme climatic and environmental conditions of this area. We have
the
most beautiful astronomical night skies in the world and an abundance
of
natural beauty in the form of birds, animals and indigenous flora.
WE HAVE :
- 4x4 TRAILS : Unique, challenging and breathtaking for the average and professional enthusiast.
- THE RHEBUCK HIKING TRAILS: For the hiker who wants to be close to nature with overnight huts.
- OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATION: 2 Bedroom house with kitchen etc. Sleeps 6. Braai and Donkey heater for warm water, gas stove and fire wood.
- CAMPING: Camping is allowed along the river which has some primitive toilet and shower facilities. You may also camp elsewhere on the farm by the waterfall or on the mountain.
- So come along and enjoy the freedom of the farm with your vehicle, hiking boots, bicycle, motorbike, micro light, camera etc. at very reasonable rates.
Merweville has a garage, general dealer, bottle store and guest house for your daily requirements. The town is 40 km from Nova Vita.
WORTH SEEING
- Panoramic views from plateaus overlooking the Koup, the surrounding mountains and plains as far as the Swartberg mountain range. Here you still get to see fossils, Bush man paintings, The old store and threshing floor at the "Kneg se Kloof" hut, fountains, black eagle and other birds. Rhebuck, Springbuck, Klipspringers, baboons and much more.
BREATHTAKING 4 x 4 ROUTES
- 14 different trails which vary from very difficult to normal. Routes vary from 5 km to 40 km. Panoramic views, fossils, rare indigenous fauna and flora can be seen.

BANKSGATE
This route has been in existence for a while and has a strong infra structure.
Chalets and camping facilities are available.
Several trails varying in difficulty can be driven.
On some of the trails it is recommended that at least two vehicles do it at the same time due to the difficulty involved.
On the 'Sterboom Pass' the unique star tree can be seen.

The De Postjes Trail (Die Posroete)
This trail is located in the Nuwe-veld Mountains about 51 km from Fraserburg on the Sutherland - Fraserburg road (rante-pad)
Several guest houses are available. The best however is sleeping under a cliff with a waterfall over the entrance. Ablution facilities are available at the waterfall.
The routes
cover a few farms and are
relatively easy. The highlight of the trail is the Mail Coach
Pass.
The gradient is about 28 degrees in some places.
The pass is about
1 km long and drop 300m.

Driefontein
Hunters Cabin
Situated on the Ouberg Bo-Visrivier road about 22 km from Sutherland. The Cabin can house about 8 people. A lapa at the cabin is the ideal place to unwind after a day in the veld.
Meals are available on request.

Verlatenkloof
Guest Farm
Situated about 24 km from
Sutherland at the bottom of the
Verlatenkloof Pass on the Matjiesfontein road. The
temperatures at the
farm is not as extreme as Sutherland and the best weather conditions
are from
March to November.
The farm is close enough to
Sutherland to allow you to
visit the other places of interest in the area.
Accommodation in self
contained chalets or camping area with ablutions.
Things
to do: 4x4 and 4x2 Routes via Ouberg Pass
with some stunning views.
