DESCRIPTION:Exoplanet Explorers: A National Science Month Family Programme\nEmbark on an imaginative journey beyond our Solar System with Exoplanet Explorers\, a free\, family oriented science engagement programme presented by The NRF|SAAO and Puppet Planet in celebration of National Science Month 2026. \nDesigned primarily for children between the ages of 5 and 16\, the programme combines astronomy with puppetry\, storytelling\, music\, dance\, digital exploration and creative activities. Children and their families will discover the fascinating world of exoplanets—planets orbiting stars beyond our Sun through a collection of interactive activity stations hosted by the NRF|SAAO in Cape Town. \nEvent details \n\nDate: Saturday\, 25 July 2026\nTime: 10:00–13:00\nGates Open: 09:30\nVenue: NRF|SAAO\, Cape Town\nCost: Free\nRecommended ages: Children aged 5–16 and their families\nBooking: Advance booking is essential\n\nWhat guests can expect\nAfter a short welcome and safety briefing\, families will be given guidance on moving between the different activity areas. Visitors will rotate between activities in the Auditorium\, Visitor Centre and McClean Museum. Volunteers and programme facilitators will be stationed throughout the route to help manage visitor movement and ensure that families can enjoy the activities comfortably. \nImportant Information\n\nGuests are advised to wear closed-toe shoes and to dress warmly\, as the tour involves some walking between sites.\nTickets are very limited\, so early booking is recommended to secure your place. No ticket sales will be conducted at the gate\, so booking is essential.\nAll children must remain under the supervision of a responsible adult throughout the programme.\nGates will open 30 minutes before the event begins. Free and safe parking is available on site.\nThe McClean Telescope floor will remain closed during the event because of ongoing maintenance.\n\nNational Science Month is a shared national effort led by the Department of Science\, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) and coordinated by the South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (NRF-SAASTA) to place science\, technology and innovation at the centre of everyday life in South Africa. \nFor more information about National Science Month\, please visit: \nhttps://www.saasta.ac.za/national-science-month/ \nPlease email cptbookings@saao.ac.za or call +27 21 447 0025 if you have any queries regarding bookings.
