Meerkat (Mongoose)
This picture was taken on a farm in the Sutherland district with Nola holding a tame Mongoose while Jaco-Chris is (very cautiously) stroking its head. Like the little springbok, it was also found as a baby, abandoned in the veld and hand reared. Unlike the springbok, this story has a happier ending - the mongoose decided one day that it belongs with its own kind and just dissapeared from the farm yard.
