Orion rising over Sutherland
During this ±three hour exposure, the bright stars of Orion formed trails against the night sky, describing their path. During the same period the domes housing the 40", 30" and 20" telescopes has been turning between several targets, capturing the photons from distant stars that has been travelling space for thousands of years.
In order to have the domes exposed instead of being silhouhetted, this shot was started early when the sky was still bright enough, hence the blue sky background.
(The following evening I took a similar picture over the 74" dome.)
