As you might have noticed by reading this list and my Snappy pages that we have confirmed that the Snappy hardware did not change from ver 2.0 to ver 4.0. However, you are the first person who I know of who tried upgrading from a ver 1.0, hence my interest to find out if this is true all the way back to ver 1.0. I (we) would be very interested to hear more about things like your operating system, exactly what software you tried, what problems/successes you got, etc. I assume you also tried the relevant patches and read the help files on my website - http://www.saao.ac.za/~wpk/snappy/ Regards Willie ps I just checked my "archives" before sending this and realised I DID hear from someone else who unsuccessfully tried upgrading a ver 1.0 before - see message #163 in my guestbook (not polite enough language to copy-and-paste here!). He also has the original software but never answered my request for a copy - you can perhaps try him, Brendan <2cool4you@excite.com> --------------------Brendan's unpolite message---------------- dude i cant get this shit to work.. oh well.. ive got the old snappy version 1 software if ya want it.. i cant use it on my comp anymore cuz it wont run on xp/nt/anything modern... ah well sux that play no longer exists... peace out.. ---------------------To which Matt replied------------------- Hi Willie, I did get the software off of your page. Thanks for having so much support available there. If mine is a version 1.0 I think the only change was to add support for audio in the later versions. Physically from what I see, it looks the same as the picture of the 4.0 unit on this groups home page. On mine there are only two RCA jacks for video in and video through. The hardware I'm using is an IBM Thinkpad 300mhz, 64 MB RAM. I'm running Windows ME and the only other software I tried was the original disk and the downloads for ver. 4.0. I'm getting better quality now when I go from my 8mm camcorder than from the VCR. Matt --------------------Later, Matt again wrote------------------- I just uploaded a zipped copy of the original software on the disk I have to the files section. I don't know if it works on anything newer than Windows 3.1. I know it won't work with WinME. Matt
