QUICKSAT V2.15C - used with CoSaTrak

by Mike McCants

Download ver 2.15C (option E) of QUICKSAT (168k)

NOTE:

  • QUICKSAT must be configured to do predictions in local time in 24 hour format when used with CoSaTrak.
  • See the DOC file included with QCONVERT and SAW for Greg's tips on using QUICKSAT with CoSaTrak.
  • TRAKSTAR output is more accurate than QUICKSAT's and should be preferred where accuracy is important, eg. with a small field of view.
  • However, TRAKSTAR has some shortcomings compared to QUICKSAT - see Prediction Software on Greg's page.
  • CoSaTrak, QCONVERT and SAW were developed round QUICKSAT V2.15C (option E) output and newer versions might not work if the output file format changed.
  • An example QUICKSAT.CTL control file for use with CoSaTrak looks a follows:

    2000 06 Year, month number
11 0 Start date, end date
-0.4 -7.4 Start time, end time, "A" flag
    -33.9480 -018.5020 010. PINELANDS
+2 SAT 24 correction for UT to time zone, time zone name, 12/24 flag
2000 Epoch of predicted RA, Dec
    7.3 Magnitude limit
    20 Altitude cut-off value
    0.2 The search/step parameter value
T True means store all elements in memory (limit 2000)
T True means accept only the most recent elements for each object
F True means ignore shadow test
T 20 True means generate multiple prediction points, how many each way
F True means output distance values in miles
T True means generate a blank line before each object's prediction.
Up to 5 non-blank flags to select class(es) of objects
