Astronomer

I am a SALT-SAAO astronomer, working in the field of extra-galactic astronomy and specifically to understand physics of star-formation and baryon cycle. To answer the scientific questions I develop astronomical instruments and I am the head of astrophotonics laboratory at SAAO. I have experience in developing several instruments for telescopes hosted in South Africa and across the globe.

Using these instruments, I try to develop the understanding of star-formation feedback, photo-ionization model, evolution of the ISM etc. I am very enthusiastic about astronomy for non-experts and often delivers lectures at public outreach events.

Research Interests:
Baryon Cycle, Physics of Star Formation, ISM feedback, Nebular spectroscopy, Astrophotonics instrumentation
